Summary:
Since arriving in Argentina 8 years ago I decided I needed a tent that could withstand the terrific winds of Patagonia as well as any storm that could arise in the Andes. The Bastille met my criteria. I have used it all over Argentina, Peru and Chile. It saved my life on one accasion when I was trapped alone by a freak storm while on an Andean ridge, and on another when I was caught---again while soloing---in a storm while backpacking the island of Navarino. It has never failed to hold up even in the fierce winds of Torres del Paine in Chile or Glacier National Park in Argentina. Yes, it is heavy, but I like the durability and extra room.

Customer Service:
I wrote Marmot detailing my experience. They wrote back immediately, and even introduced me to their local distributor here in Buenos Aires. I was so impressed by this courtesy that I bought their Equinox tent to take on a 40 day solo hike across the Gran Sabana of Venezuela this December. I will send a review upon return.

Summary:
Tent is very versatile, but you pay for that versatility in weight. Overall this is the finest tent I have owned or used (others used- Kelty, Sierra Designs, Walrus, North Face). The materials are very durable and there is no billowing in the fly or canopy. For two people it feels like a luxury condo, but for three it would be tight (has been done). Best tent at regulating temperature I have used, but similar features as the asylum. The individual add ons for the tent are more than they should be, but that's Marmot. I would recommend this tent to backpackers who value extra space, stability and versatility in a tent over 2-3 pounds on their back. The difference in this tent and other similar designs from other companies.

Customer Service:
Customer service is excellent. As a company, Marmot responds to the consumer. They should for the premium price.
